Rate Review 2008 Product Changes

Please read this important information about changes to your cover.

Extended Limits will change to Annual Limits

If you hold MBF Premium Extras, MBF HealthLink Advantage, MBF Select 80 Extras and MBF Essentials Extras your current Extended Limits will no longer be a feature of your product from 1 June 2008. In order for your product to meet legislative requirements, we will no longer be able to offer this product feature.

If you have already accumulated some unused Limits from 2007, you will still be able to use them up until 31 December 2008. From 1 January 2009, all services will simply have the current Annual Limit.

Get more back with the MBF MemberCare Network

MBF MemberCare is a network of providers covering all preventive and general dental services, selected physiotherapy and optical services. Through this network, MBF will be introducing product features designed to further increase the value you receive for your level of cover. From 1 April 2008 the MBF MemberCare Network will include chiropractic services. This means you can receive more money back on most chiropractic consultations from one of our 400 plus MBF MemberCare Chiropractic Providers.

MBF will also be increasing MemberCare Set Benefits for all preventative and general dental services and most physiotherapy consultations.

We have also introduced a new and growing MBF MemberCare optical network and, as a result, have made some changes to our registered MBF MemberCare optical providers. We recommend that you visit www.mbf.com.au to locate your nearest MBF Membercare optical provider, or any other MBF MemberCare service providers. Here you will also find more information on all the changes listed above. A summary of the new optical product features that apply to services received on or after 1 April 2008 are listed below.

Combining MBF & BUPA Australia

Should the proposal to combine the businesses of the MBF group and the BUPA Australia group be approved and implemented, BUPA Australia will amend the constitution of MBF Australia Pty Ltd to convert MBF into a company limited by shares and to enable MBF to pay dividends to its shareholders. The amendments will include removing the current provisions under the MBF Constitution which provide that a contributor to the health benefits fund operated by MBF may:
(a) apply to become a company member of MBF;
(b) receive notification of the annual general meeting (together with advice about how to obtain a copy of the annual report of MBF; and
(c) attend and be heard (but not vote) at the annual general meeting.
